Outback Camping
When we were last in Perth, we spent 3 weeks camping in outback Northern Territory and Western Australia. Along the way, we came across a couple of die-hard cyclists who were cycling along the Gibb River Road. It is 660km and is one of the harshest dirt road in Western Australia. 4WDs are recommended.
Brisbane
Riding in Brisbane is very different from riding in Perth. Whereas riding in Perth is totally on flat level ground, Brisbane is very hilly and quite a challenge for me. Michael took out this book from the library and picked out rides that had the lowest category for me to ride. On days that he went by himself, he picked the harder rides. We normally start at about 5.00am, when the sun rises, as it gets too hot by 7.00am.

My first ride was to the entrance of this forest
Perth
This trip back to Oz was more of a bike-related finding trip. I was more interested in looking for signs which may be applicable to Penang. (Might be applicable but might not be do able ).
Landing into Perth, watching the glorious sunrise is always one of my simple pleasures in life. (I am easily pleased
).

Siem Reap
Arriving into Siem Reap on Tuesday morning Nov 17, I was used to vans and buses being used as airport transfers. Imagine my surprise when we were led to a tuk tuk.

Our room was not ready, so we took a walk into town. I saw alot of people wearing masks and was wondering if H1N1 was rife here. It didn't take us long to figure out that masks were worn because of the dust and we got ours at the first sight of a store selling them.
Pulau Ubin
Shaped like a boomerang, Pulau Ubin (Granite Island) is situated just off the north eastern corner of mainland Singapore and provides an escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. A trip to Pulau Ubin is like a trip back to Singapore in the '60s. There are about a hundred villagers living in kampongs and relying on wells for water and noisy diesel generators for electricity.
Outdoor activities are the main tourist attractions here. Cycling is a pleasure, there are hardly any vehicles on the road and most of the paths are shaded.
On the right, the broken lines are dirt tracks. We were told that this is quite a difficult track, so we did not go there. But apparently, Chek Jawa, where the arrow is pointing, has the most spectacular sealife.
