Penang - Betong Fellowship Ride, 09-10 July 2011

This is the ride co-organized by G Club and Penang Chinese Town Hall in order to promote this healthy sport and at the same time to promote cycling as one of the ways to reduce our addiction to fossil fuel. More than 70 riders participated in the ride. I was invited by Penang Chinese Town Hall to be the co-pilot of the ride and volunteered to lead the slower pack. The itenary posted below is the progress of the pack though I must admit I was a little carry away by going a "little" faster after the 3rd regroup point...:) This was also my first out of town road ride with G Club(Surprise, surprise!).
MKH's Kayuhan Klasik 2, 20 Mar 2011

Somehow I am not able to upload my pictures to the Photos section in this forum. Anyway these are some of the pictures. Above the GPS tracklog of the ride. The actual MKH's Kayuhan Klasik ride loop is about 93km. I decided to cycle to the meeting point, and that adds 28km and also another overshot of 11km after the first water station made the whole distance close to 130km.

Bali Trailblazer

Read about Bali Trailblazer from fakawitribe.com few years ago(http://fakawitribe.com/home/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=45&Itemid=44) and always think one day I would go there and ride with them.

Roadie Translations ...;)
"I'm out of shape"
Translation: I ride 400 miles a week and haven't missed a day since the Ford administration. I replace my 11-tooth cog more often than you wash your shorts. My bodyfat percentage is lower than your mortgage rate.
"I'm not into competition"
Translation: I will attack until you collapse in the gutter, babbling and whimpering as if you've been watching Celebrity Poker. I will win the town-line sprint if I have to hook you into an oncoming traffic. I will crest this hill first if I have to grab your seatpost, spray energy drink in your eyes and ask you how to program my DVD player.
"I'm on my beater bike"
YOU KNOW YOU'RE ADDICTED TO CYCLING IF....
YOU KNOW YOU'RE ADDICTED TO CYCLING IF....
- You hear someone had a crash and your first question is "How's the bike?"
- You have stopped even trying to explain to your other half why you need more than one bike...
- You have more money invested in your bike clothes than in the rest of your combined wardrobe.
- You see a fit, tanned, Lycra-clad young thing ride by, and the first thing you check out is his or her bicycle.
- Despite all that winter weight you put on, you'll take off weight by buying titanium components.
- You clean your bike(s) more often then your house.
- You can't seem to get to work by 8:30 AM, even for important meetings, but you don't have any problems at all meeting your mates at 5:30 AM for a hundredmiler.

My Trek 1000SL Major Makeover

This was how it looked like when I first bought the bike from Gary CCI. Bontrager parts all round and Shimano SORA 8 speed components(except the RD, which is a Tiagra 9 speed and the 105 SPD-R pedals). It has served me well for the last two years. But lately when I checked, the rim walls had become valleys, bottom bracket started to make clicking sound and the right shifter was always jam due to wear and tear. Sent the bike to Gary, and he scolded me for putting too much stress on the components! I like to ride mah...:)
My holiday trekking in Cameron Highlands
While taking my son for his school holiday in Cameron Highlands, I decided to to go for a "short" walk, which I ended up tracked 11km in total distance. You can view my Everytrail profile of this walk at http://www.everytrail.com/view_trip.php?trip_id=541322
