Penang Kayuh Lasak 2010 Mountain Bike Jamboree, 4-5 December 2010
A two day event, participants are treated to the 3 F's of mountain biking: food, fun and fellowship. Penang heritage experience on wheels or PHEW promotes sightseeing in Georgetown Penang via cycling. Description: We will be riding from B'w to Pantai Merdeka where we take a boat across the Merbok River to Tg Dawai. We then proceed to Merbok for an early lunch. Then to Archaeology Museum.
Bring a change of clothes if you like to take a dip in the rock pools.
Trails mostly flat. If you like riding, exploring and a bit of history, you'll definitely enjoy this.
Please be punctual. Last boat trip from Tg Dawai to Pantai Merdeka is tentatively at 5.00pm. If we miss this boat we will have to go home via Sg Petani.

I'm putting this event on behalf of Wusolow. Wusolow is organising a leisure ride to Kota Kuala Muda, Kedah this coming Friday (27th Nov.'09). This ride takes you across to Butterworth where our journey begins. We ride up north to Teluk Air Air Tawar. From here we head for Kota Kuala Muda riding through scenic paddy fields and rustic villages along the way.
If you like to join us, meet in front of Island Plaza at 6.20am, Gurney Drive at 6.30am or the Penang Ferry Terminus at 6.50am.

I am thinking of doing the road ride again this coming Saturday to Pulau Betung. The route is as follow:
Gurney drive - Tanjung Bungah - Batu Ferringhi - Teluk Bahang - Sungai Rusa - Pulau Betung and back.
Distance is around 85km round trip.

A tentative meeting with be held to facilitate the drawing of the APPROVED bicycle lane (emblem first) on the pilot route i.e from Gurney Drive to Tlk Bahang and the Heritage enclave. Funding for the project will be discussed. You guys got RM 34 K to spare, if yes we can draw the bike lane tomorrow!!!!

Monday, 7th, Sept 4pm; There will be a meeting with the CIMB Foundation Officers who have tentatively agreed not only to co sponsor our event but also providing fund for bicycling related programmes throughout the whole of next year.
They are on a surveilance trip to make sure the events are beneficial to the community esp the bicycle lane.
5th Sept, 3 pm, Girl Guide HQ;BRIEFING TO THE ST JOHNS AND GIRL GUIDES.
Saturday, 5th Sept, 3 pm, we have an appointment with the Girl Guide Chief State Commissioner of Puan Chan Kit Sin to brief the Guides on their function during the event which will mainly be in the water stations, assisting the first aiders from St John Ambulance and the starting area.

Have spoken to Dr Yee Thiam Sun, the St John State commander, and he will be sending a representative to the girl guide HQ on Saturday for the briefing as well
1st SEPT, 3PM, 53rd FL, KOMTAR; BRIEFING TO THE STATE EXCOS, MPPP, RELA, TRAFFIC POLICE AND JKR
Tuesday, 1st Sept 3 pm, Bilik Nilam will be the venue for a meeting with the government agencies. As I hv stressed the safety of riders are paramount. We will try to convince the traffic police agency to supply us with as many as officers as possible. Albeit that, as a contingency plan, we will also be employing at least 80 RELA personnels to ensure the safety and smooth running of the event. I have spoken to the RELA officer to provide that many personnels and he has no problem with it (provided you have the $, each RELA costs Rm 25).
We will also have to arrange with the MPPP for a sweeper truck to "sapu" all those stragglers who "prefer to push their bike" when the time limits is up.

Presentation (Joint Meeting) - Ronnie Tan 14/7/09
Tuesday, 3 pm, 14/7/09, at Nilam Hall, 53rd floor, KOMTAR, Ronnie Tan will be presenting to the State Exco, MPPP, TRaffic Police, JKR etc regarding the CAMPAIGN FOR A LANE ride on the 18/10/09.
This presentation is meant to synchronise the various department in ensuring the event goes on smoothly. Therefore hopefully as many cyclists as possible could come and support Ronnie and Robert.

Come join us tomorrow 730 am SHARP, meet at G hotel. Captain Ronnie Tan will give a briefing before we start off from Gurney Drive to Tlk Bahang where we will have our breakfast at the roti chanai kopitiam and "sembang" for half an hour or so before heading back to G hotel. Will probably reach G hotel at about 11 am. For those looking for challenge tomorrow, we have a group of superfit triathlon about 10, who will be riding with us from G hotel, their destination is Tlk Pulau Betong and back to Chinese Swimming Club, run 5 kM and swim again!!!
