Background on the RideThe cities of George Town and Malacca were jointly inscribed as World Cultural Heritage Sites by UNESCO on 7 July 2008. The Penang State Government, through the joint effort of MPPP, George Town World Heritage Incorporated, Penang Global Tourism, relevant government agencies and the private sectors runs the second anniversary celebration from July 1 to 31. The EventsNight Cycling Through Heritage Site is one of the over 80 events for the George Town Festival 2010. Organizer for the Night Cycling: PENANG CYCLING LIFESTYLE SOCIETY The Route The Route runs within the George Town Heritage core zone and covers a distance of 4.6 km The journey starts from City Hall to Beach Street passing through Little India, Islamic Museum, Mansion, Chinese clans and guilds. The Route will also lead you through the Street of Harmony, where mosque, Chinese and Indian temples and church co-exist along a 450-meter stretch, a testimony of the wisdom of the yesteryear creators. At a Glance The Night Cycling is open to riders who shall be of age 16 and above. They are required to wear helmets and their bicycle shall have front and rear lighting.
