Pbb website upgrade
Pbb website has been upgraded from previous html-based draft version to a now full blown feature-rich stable version 1.00
Soon pbb will have a direct link to www.howei.com to allow payment online for Ride with CM registration.
Features of pbb website-
1) Forum - for open discussions between members (login users)
2) Blog - personal online diary, allowing member to create their onw diary in pbb
3) Events - allows pbb events to be published and tracked
4) Gallery - allows members to upload photos
5) Poll - Allows public poll to be published and old poll archived for viewing
6) Membership - allows online registration and tracking of members, special users and admin
7) Newsletters - allow pbb news and announcements to be email to members, on a on-demand or regular basis

A new feature has been added today to 'members' to allow you to search by login id or by name. Please feel free to comment or make suggestions. Only by your feedback can we continue to improve our Gclub website... Cheers and happy cycling !
A new feature that allows you to send events and other details in gclub to your friend has been implemented.
To try out, click on an Up Coming Event and you will be able to see a link called "Email this page" Clicking this link will take you to a new page. Type in your friend's email, an optional message and click Send Message. The details of the Event and your message will be emailed to your friend. Neat !

A new menu option is added, it's on your top right called CM Ride. Click to view the number of registered participants for the CM Ride. This option is accessible only to members(login users). And also note that manual payments are not included in the list (Todate I understand there are about 100 in hand awaiting to be punched in by Micheal)
To assist admin and special users in managing members a new option called "Member" has been installed.
We can now start to send newsletter out with embedded pictures working properly..
Some configuration and amendments had been done to the pbb site.
Amendments done include:
1) Users can search for content using the search form
2) Blocks of RECENT FORUM TOPICS and RECENT BLOG POSTS had been added to retrieve the latest posting from the site
3) Display of the contents of site had been amended.
Some new configurations and amendments had been made since the last (second) upgrade.
The new amendments made include:
- Display of the block at left and right sidebar had been amended in its marginal aspects.
- Filtering of albums in picture gallery had been done. Users will be directed to view their own posted albums by default. They can choose to view the entire picture gallery as well.
- A simple chatting environment had been configured for all the users to chat instantly with each other.
The problem with this so called simple chat is that you cannot alert the person you are try to chat with... I yelled "Hello helloo hello" to Dr awhile ago but he did not respond
I may be wrong just like I was wrong abt SMS. When SMS was first introduced, I could not fathom why in the world would anyone want to use SMS when you could just dial the number and convey the message. I am obviously wrong abt the SMS.
On line chatting? I was a virgin until few months abt while I was assessing my facebook when suddenly a line pop out from a friend " Hi, how are you?" and I did "chat" for a while but I find it so cumbersome and funny to chat like this.
Maybe it may be another SMS phenomenon for me. Who knows we may all enjoy the chats.
Would be fun if have IRC type multi-party chat...:)
Chat online is useful when you prefer to type rather than talk. And with chat you can record your conversation, send a picture and it is almost free. MSN, QQ (popular Chinese chat), Skype, Yahoo are some of the well known chats. Chat in pbb is useful.
Often I have a small query and need to talk to my programmer quickly, instead logging to the cumbersome webmail, I can turn to chat, provided the other party is also online. Unfortunately you cannot chat with more than one party at a time, multi party or conference chat takes up bandwidth.
Chat without alert is quite useless. Wondering why there is only one person blogging? Don't tell me login users do not have access to blog or what?
Some additional amendments had been done since last upgrade:
1.) Functions of filtering the sign-in user's blogs and albums
2.) Users can upload files for downloading inside the Files menu
3.) Items displayed at the block had been reduced from 5 items to 3 items
4.) Additional blocks displaying the sponsors for the event of Ride with CM was added
Login special users and admin can upload and download files under "Files" option. Currently the two pdf files sent by Micheal Leong are stored here for download. If you have any ppt slides, agenda or minutes of meeting, store them here.
Some amendments had been done for the site. Amendments made include:
i.) Users can display video for the content of type story
ii.) Video can be retrieved from youtube or another online sources by pasting the url to the content.
iii.) Newsletter with image inside the content is enabled.
iv.) Some display of the block at the left and right sidebars had been amended.
Our G Club site has been upgraded today!
1) With a new Shout Box. The idea of a Shout box is for visitors who do not want to login to leave a message. I don't know how useful this will be, but will leave it on for a while and if no one uses it say for a month or so, we will take it off
2) And the Chat on the top left bar has been hidden. To see and use the chat you need to login.
3) A profile viewer may be added in the next upgrade. The viewer will automatically scroll the photos and names of all the members. You can control the scrolling either fast forward or rewind or pause.
