Batteryless, Non fiction dynamo !
Batteryless Bicycle Flashing Light System
A Non-Friction Bicycle Dynamo (Generator)

|
No Batteries - Ever! No Friction! No Resistance!
|
Why is this better than other dynamos?
Performance: Most dynamos work by slowing down your tires, if they work at all. This Non-friction bicycle dynamo won't slow cyclist down.
No battery needed (save your money and protect the environment).
No friction on any parts of the bicycle.
No drag can be detected in this device on bicycle; it is not a traditional dynamo. With this innovative electrical generating system you will not feel any extra weight when you are cycling. How it works?
2 white front LEDs and 3 red rear LEDs flash as the wheel rotates (even at very slow speed). No need to switch them on/off.
On standby lights version (SPL), 2 white LEDs at front and 3 red LEDs at back will be lit when cyclist holds the rear-wheel brake to stop the bicycle.
The lights are bright enough to be seen in daylight - 24 hour safety lights free!
Very reliable and simple design, no maintenance needed.
The safety lights were always flashing on your bike in any weather conditions (e.g. in a dark day) or road conditions (e.g. under a bridge or inside a tunnel). No hassle forever!
This light system works well in raining days.
We use 8000-12000mcd LEDs on this light system. They are very bright. In fact, the lights are now too bright for the naked eyes in a short distance.

OH YES G CLUB, ARE NOT THOSE LIGHTS THE REAL DEAL? I HAVE HAD MINE FOR ABOUT 30 MONTHS AND THEY HAVE NEVER MISSED A BEAT. I HAVE ADDED EXTRA LEDS TO THEM AND THEY ARE SEEN MUCH BETTER THAN THE ORIGINAL NUMBER THEY GIVE YOU. LEDS ARE THE FUTURE OF LIGHTING. AS SAID BEFORE, THIS TECHNOLOGY CAN BE APPLIED TO SO MANY DIFFERENT VARIATIONS TO ACCOMADATE THE MOST USEFUL IDEAS. WELL TIME IS SHORT, SO I WILL BE BACK LATER, SINCERELY, HAMMER 33
The most critical part are the 4 magnets. These small rectangular magnets are to be placed in a set of two and each is supposed to be TAPED (with electrical tapes provided) to the spokes. Ideally the set of magnets should be taped one north and one south to get the full effect of the dynamo.
I'm not an engineer, but using elcetrical tapes to try to stick the magnets to the spokes??! Looks like a joke to me ! Even using epoxy to glue the magnets is not only messy but if and when you need to adjust or remove them for maintenance, you can't ! The dynamo and leds are fine but I have to find a better solution to the magnets.
I am looking at the cateye reflector for ideas. If I can fabricate a small casing to house the 2 magnets and then screw the whole unit on to the spokes securely, bingo, I have a great bicycle product !
The design is only conceptual.
For a reliable unit, what you can do is take a look at the Cyclometer sensor attachment to the spokes.
I did my own using permanent magnets from small speakers, epoxy to a holder (something like the reflector).you need 2 magnets with1 north pole and another south pole facing the Coil.
In Engineering, nothing can be created or found but a transformation of Energy from 1 form to another.
You will see some rotational friction but because you use LED which draw a small current, typical 10mA ,you do not feel/ see the friction that much as if you were driving bulbs, but it exists!
This is actually principals of a magnetor in a small motorbike.
which generates AC voltages.
If you are creative, just tear apart a hand crank/shake LED torch light and reattach the components to the spokes and you get exactly what you are buying.

My colleague is trying to buy a unit to try out. I believe this product is only a working prototype, will let you the results once I've thrash it on my bike !
Daniel,
what about the solar one ? i'm only worried that it is going to be quite expensive. if not i'd like to have it.
I'm going out for a ride again tonight at 9:15pm. and this saturday also. from tanjong Bungah up to the fruit farm. it's just too bad i can't make the ride with you all on sunday.
Try using a Wind LED light from Car accessories shop. It is basically a turbine driven motor which powers LED when cycling wind blows across.
Another alternative to green living is to get a Garden Solar Light with rechargble battery back up.This charges 2 double A Nihm batteries which powers the LED when dark falls! Ifv you are lucky you can get it for only RM10 at ther offer section.
Neccessity is the mother of Inventions. Creativity uis the father of solutions! God bless,Tim
Judging from the size of the solar panel I don't think it can be effective. But won't know until I test it. May get a unit to try out too.
Neat.
May I know is there any shop here in Penang where I can buy this product ?
The package arrived. Heres the picture of the components..
Notice the 4 pieces of magnets on the left? They are the Neodymium magnets, very powerful stuff.
I merely moved the 4 pieces of magnets over the dynamo, the red leds lighted up !!
Except for for the dynamo and magnets, the rest are quite flimsy stuff ! Hope in the enxt few days I can test it out in my racer....WILL KEEP YOU POSTED, STAY TUNED FELLAS !
wow, this is God send lah. No battery etc. If it works I m orderin one
Yes Look368,
Pretty neat stuff. this is the phenomenon of electromagnetic induction.
The only issue is how to stick the magnets to the spokes so that it wont fall off??? I have an idea, will share later... Unlike the cateye speedometer where the reflector can be nicely and securely screwed to the spokes, there is such screw or clamp to secure the magnets to the spoke...only simple instructions like "cover the magnet with tape to prevent dust.." !
Yes, like what I have predicted when I first opened up the parcel, 'how to stick the magnets to the spokes securely so that it wont drop off when I start to cycle faster?' And the situation is made worse by the fact that the spokes are NOT made of iron of steel ! Now I have to find someone who can fabricate a small plastic or metal casing to house the magnets and make a clip on the other side so that I can slip the casing tighly on to the spoke...Need ideas, anyone?
Notice on the top left I used black tapes to wrap around the 2 small magnets !
