Round Island fully subscribed
We have to stop accepting round island registration as it has exceeded the maximum number i.e 500 (this is not reflected in the counter which is still at 370 ++ because there is a lot of last minute registration which has not being key in manually by our wonderful Diana and Mike) . I hope those who did not register in time will understand that we emphasise on safety and would like all participants to enjoy themselves. Hence quality is more important than quantity. We apologise to the many who call up wanting to register for the round island.

Hi, I am a newbie here. According from the posting, the CM ride event is Not for racing and should go and enyjoy ourselves. But after talked to some of the riders and realised that we should go for racing instead of enjoying. In order for us to do it within 5 hours, we need to do nonstop with average of 40km/h. Base on your experience, is it true?
Dear Dericrx,
If you do an average of 40km/h for 5 hours, that means you will achieve about 200km. The round island jorney is only 80km. I think we have to ride about 16km/h on average.
Best Regards, Ray
dr, committee members and helpers,
Shabas for a job well done ! (so far) 1000 participants ! thats amazing considering gclub is new kid on the block to holding this kind of event!
Registration at the start was slow but during last few days before the close I noticed a surge and probably the server was not able to cope and therefore degraded to almost a crawl. In future we can consider upgrading to a faster dedicated server.
For those who have registered for the ride, if you have not sign up to become a member of gclub, I hope you would do so now (click on the tab top right corner of gclub site) Once signed in you will be able to view the members list, view the list of participants for Ride with CM, make comments and receive newsletters from our chairman.
Cheers & greetings from xiamen !
Congratulations. Before the closing date, the round island ride is fully book. Selling like hot pan cake....
Best Regards, Ray
Hi Stingray,
Yes the round island is very popular. That goes to show there is a lot of serious cyclists. Unfortunately it is not exactly "selling" like hot cake. It is more like for every participant the organisers are subsiding more than RM 50!!! We are happy that our sponsors all 20 of them has been very generous.
I guess the jersey cost a fortune. No wonder "round island ride" is so popular.
Thanks to the sponsors and PBB organiser/members, Ray
