G Club Bahang Ride - 11/10/09

The monthly G Club Bahang Ride is here again.
This month we will "extend" the ride all the way round Penang Island as practice ride for those who needs a feel of what to expect come 25/10/09. (but you will be riding clockwise during the RIDE WITH CM event)
Turbosnail and other G Club members will be leading the way with the usual brief stop at Teluk Bahang kopitiam. Other stop(s) will be decided during the journey.

I may propose a long ride but not a round island ride. These are the routes that I have in mind:
Option A:
Gurney Drive - Jln Tanjung Tokong - Jln Tanjung Bungah- Jln Tlk Bahang - Jln Sg Rusa - Jln Sg Pinang - Balik Pulau - Jln Balik Pulau - Jln Kg Genting - Pulau Betong - Jln Bahru - Jln Sg Rusa - Jln Tlk Bahang - Jln Batu Ferringhi - Jln Tanjung Bungah - Jln Tanjung Tokong - Gurney Drive
Opion B:
Gurney Drive - Jln Tanjung Tokong - Jln Tanjung Bungah- Jln Tlk Bahang - Jln Sg Rusa - Jln Sg Pinang - Balik Pulau - Jln Balik Pulau - Jln Teluk Kumbar - Jln Gertak Sanggul - Jln Teluk Kumbar - Jln Balik Pulau- Balik Pulau- Jln Sg Rusa - Jln Sg Pinang- Jln Tlk Bahang - Jln Batu Ferringhi - Jln Tanjung Bungah - Jln Tanjung Tokong - Gurney Drive
Riding distance is in definitely more than 90km, longer than the round island loop.
So be prepared to spend about 4.5 to 6 hours to finish the ride. We will have multiple stops to regroup.
No helmet no ride is strictly enforced!
We will decide which route to take on the day of riding.

a bit too long don't you think? better to stick to round island with a few food and drink stops.
too long and we will "scare" quite a number of 'fresh' riders away and they will have 2nd thoughts come 25/10 !!
make it a fun n relaxing ride, appealing to as many as possible. then they will look forward to another ride on 18/10 before the BIG ONE when they will ride along with 500+ others.
if a relaxing ride round island can be achieved in 5 hours this sunday, imagine the confidents the riders will have on the big day !!

Sure sure, lets talk about it during that day. The Option A route can be shorterned by about 20km by not doing the Balik Pulau part. I want to take you guys to Pulau Betong, another fishing village.
Round island I am not sure. One of my worries is the traffic condition from Balik Pulau back to Gurney Drive via coastal highway. Also, it's quite open. It's going to be hot, very hot!
