GT here posting for the first time. Nice to have met you all on Sunday morning at G hotel.
Sorry we could not make it to the end with you all as my friend Alex got a double puncture and I got a broken chain when i tried to head back. Will try to meet up with you all again.

Hi guys,
This is Poh Lee here. I just signed up a bike trip to Lembah Bujang on this coming Sunday. Never try with bike ride with 3hrs duration...hopefully i will come back in one piece :-)

Firstly, welcome to G Club
You got me a bit worried when you said you hope to come back in one piece.
No offence mate, but have you ever ridden a bicycle round the Penang island? If you have done so recently then this trip should not be a problem to you. But if you have only rode from G Hotel to Teluk Bahang then I would suggest you reconsider. This one is much further.
Many a times we try to keep up with the pack, pushing ourselves beyond our normal riding speed. That's where the trouble starts. Each one of us rides at a different speed and cadence(the number of revolution you pedal in a minute). I cannot tell you at what speed you should ride or the cadence, you will have to listen to your body. Ride at a speed you feel comfortable with. Have you ever watch a long distance runner run. Does he sprint all the way from start to finish? Of course not. He runs at a constant speed and only towards the end he starts to increase his speed. But we are not in a race, so you should keep a constant speed. Finishing the trip is more important then reaching there first!
So the choice is yours.

Thanks for the advise. I will try to go with pace that i feel comfortable with. I typically rid bicycle around my neighbourhood about 1.5hr to 2hrs on weekly basis. So if it is at the leisure manner, i may survive the trip :-) If it is ok with you, i will try to give a shot.

Aiyo... don't worry too much about the 3hrs cycling. We're are riding slowly because this will be a leisure ride. Normally, I will be the sweeper and make sure that everyone is fine. If some of them ride fast, let them be the heros. We just want everyone enjoy the ride and the most important thing is to HAVE FUN!!!
Note: 0630 will be in Penang Jetty. I'm not sure what time we will reach butterworth jetty? You can either contact wusolow or stingray (017-four four zero 9683). May be you can sms us when you reach the butterworth jetty.

Thanks for sharing the thought and advise. I will go with moderate pace but hopefully not too far off from the team. I have been ride by myself all this while, so i'm looking forward to ride with a group of cyclist and make new friend at the same time.
I will catch to 6am ferry to Penang to meet the team. Look forward to meet you in person.

I think we will meet you in the Butterworth Jetty Terminal or Butterworth Bus Stop... because once we gather in the Penang Jetty Terminal, we will be taking a ferry to Butterworth.

GT, we will try to help in any possible way for all riders to finish the ride.
If it is too major, then you might have to call for help. (which is why having a taxi call centre on your contact list is important)
It is always good to have Sifu around and he will be more than happy to help. Just make sure you have a place for him to sit and not squat !!! if not, he will have problem repairing your bike !!

I was a new bi previously and Captain, Sifu , and the rest of the G-club members made me feel like one of their cycling buddies. Now I have become one of the regular G-club members, taking over "captain's" position, covering the back. Hehe.
We make sure those who joins us for the ride will be taken care off to our ability.
