Thanks for organising this event this was much well managed compared to the one last August.
I love the planning. the stops, the tshirt and the lunch. All were satisfiying. I like the idea of an event like this which does not draw ppl by the masses with lucky draw prizes. All of us will go back with nice experience and a great time out.
BTW did we managed to get a lane for cycling? Can someone share the route?
I did recall that there was a cycling friendly route near Pulat Tikus are opposite Youth park, Does anyone still have the map or the route?
You must hv some bad experience with chains to use a a pseudoname like this ;-)) Anyway, thanks for the compiments. We are glad you agreed with us that it is not the number that is important for an event but the quality.
The bicycle lane has been approved by the state government and we hv secured the finance from CIMB FOUNDATION and our good captain has found a contractor to draw it. It shud happened the next one or two months. I wud like to put a damper on this one. We asked for emblems and erected signs to be erected every 200m but unfortunately some how the budget by the state bicylcing committee with we are not involve calculated a budget which will only be sufficient for emblems every 500m (sigh!!!) So do not count too much on it, I for one am not excited about it at all !!!!
Thumbs up to the organizers and volunteers for such a great and wonderful event.
We really feel safe riding on the road with the attendance of the traffic marshals, police and MPPP kereta sampah at the back prepairing to pick us up...
Just a minor details or hiccup to share. Towards the end of the event, at about 11.20am, aound Tanjong Tokong area (near Island Plaza) where the traffic was quite heavy, there was no trafic marshal at the busy traffic junctions until end of the ride. In fact, I saw a group of Rela members (in about 7 or 8 motorcycles) riding back already. This was a bit dangerous for the slow cyclists who were left behind, especially the young one, who might still think that they can still happily zoom through the traffic lights like at the early initial stage of the ride. Anyway, at that time it was still within the time to finish the round island ride in 5 hours.
Overall, it was a graet and successful event for the support the cause to campaign for a lane.
Thank you and see you all again in another meaningful event.
I agreed the RELA shud stay on until 1 pm as contracted in our agreement with them after which all riders and their bikes shud be hauled up into the sweeper trucks. We hv 2 scenarios here ; 1) Renegade RELA who ponteng their duty early and left their post early and exposed riders to risks. 2)Riders who refused to get on the sweepers at the end of the time limit 12 noon and exposed themselves to risks as the organisers cannot be waiting forever for the last one to come in. AS u may hv noticed, we organised it very timely. starting time especially except for the family ride which was delayed by 10 mins because the CM was held up

Even the weather was with the CM Ride, sunny and clear skies in the morning till noon. GClub did a good job setting the standard in organizing a quality cycling event. High quality shirts/jersey, good food and a very well organized event.

Two thumbs up to the organizers and volunteers for a great event! I also love the jersey (esp. the finisher's jersey!). It's way better than getting a medal.
I was one of the Penang ladies doing the Round Island Ride. I enjoyed being able to just enjoy the ride and going as fast as I wanted without having to constantly glance over my shoulder for traffic.
Congratulations to G club for organising such a successful event.
Everything is perfectly done from the collection of the t-shirt till the delicious meal set at the end, well done!
Also like to thanks to those Rela and those helping in the events, i truly enjoyed my ride in such a well plan and safe cycling environment.
perhaps the only thing that may be can improve is when finish the round Island and on the arrival, is a bit at lost of where to collect the finisher t-shirt, but truly is a very minor point for improvement.

Just wanted to add my congrats to everybody involved for a fantastic event. Despite having Dengue the week prior, I could not help but still jump on the bike to participate and I even still managed to make it all the way round without passing out!!!
Special thanks to the two unknown gentlemen who pumped up my flat back tyre half way round so I could enjoy the rest of the ride - they were an example of everybody involved: friendly, helpful, supportive etc

The fact that I manage to finish the ride made me agree even more.. hahah.
The Tshirt and Finisher's Jersey are really good quality. Too bad I took the wrong size and it was a bit tight for me.
Food was really good too and the stage show and the coordination was great. Too bad there were no Lucky Draw or more exciting events for everyone to participate. Everyone just leave after the meal and the performers on the stage are left with just a small crowd.
Agree with chyeow on the finishing part... probably in future, posting a simple map on this site would help.
More pictures please :) Can't wait to see candid shots of interesting riders, bikes and all that.
I must say, some of the round islanders had my respect! I was riding along with an Uncle on a single speed foldable mini bike !! And also met with a Father and Son team; I think the kid was just 10 years old.. and they all manage to complete it.. Maybe in future, special rewards should be given to these riders !
Great Job to the organisers... I will sure be there to join the next events.... please keep us posted!
Yes, I do agree that this is one of the most organised sports event. Everyone is enjoying the ride. Received some good feedback from our neighbouring state participants - Perak. They were surprised to see Penang LADIES so sporting participating, whereas they seldom find that in Perak. Cheers for Penangites!
Penang 'Cha Boh' Boleh...he...he..he... Thank you organiser..keep up your good work and not forgetting our sporting CM SYABAS YAB LIM GUAN ENG!

Dear wong188,
You are most welcome to join us for the monthly ride to teluk bahang. I love to cycle because it's one of my old hobby and it also keep me fit. We just only want to enjoy the ride and nobody will be left behind.
It's really encouraging to see you ladies willing to do the round island ride. Yes, join us on our weekend rides, it's even more enjoyable these rides cos you get to eat laksa in Balik Pulau and sembang sembang in between !
Doc,
What about organising the biggest ride ever in Penang ?? 5000 riders? or 200 only penang cha bo round island ride (to encourage more ladies to cycle) ?
Why not award points after each round island ride? If we can record down in our website the points (maybe in km) awarded to each member after each round island ride, do you think this can stir even more interest in cycling? Once a member has reached a certain point, a small token of award is given and the rider is elevated to a higher category (bronze, silver, gold) ? Just a thought lah... Remember, Penang is a cycling gem, we need to continue to polish it by organising events like Ride with CM.. Cheers !
Yes, I agree that Penang Cha Bo memang Boleh ! I rode the Round Island and could not believe my eyes when I saw so many ladies taking part in this event !!
Congratulations !!! to G Club and other organisers and sponsors of Ride With CM for the job so well done. Despite of the exhausting body after round island ride, I wish to be the first one to express my appreciation ( and I am sure soon it will be followed by many more other fella riders) for such an organised riding event and taking riders safety into great deal.
Throught my ride, I saw marshalls were allocated at every junctions, split roads to guide the riders and control the traffic, riders were indeed feel safe and can enjoy the ride. Zero accident incident happened, and every riders were enjoying the ride totally.
As promised, water stations were allocated at the specific locations for riders to replenish with water and not to mentioned the banana, no doubt small banana (hehe) but help to boost in energy.
Saw a few riders with no helmet on though ... hope they realise it's for safety.
Once again, Bravo ! Syabas to the organizers, hope you will do more such eventsin the future, really looking forward to ...

The design of the t shirts and jerseys are great. Credit to EC and team. The colors are brilliant and I believe it will last and won't just washed off like a cheapo printing. I am confident because otherwise the boss responsible for printing our t shirt Johnson from KL would not dare to stay back for the event :-))) and by the way the cost of printing for each t shirt is almost equal to the cost of a usual event t shirts that you either give to yr maid as a pyjamas or use it to work in the most dirty environment.
You guys know you guys got it right. Cheers and great job. thanks
