A Metric Century Ride to Balik Pulau.

Ok not really a metric century since the mileage also take the ferry ride into consideration....;) I started my ride from my home at Prai Garden at 7am this morning. I met another rider who rides a nice Trek OCLV team bike at the B'Worth ferry terminal. We greeted to each other. I told him my plan to ride to Balik Pulau with a group of riders. He told me he also would meet his friend at Tanjung Tokong Fire Department and may go at the same direction. I gave him my number so that he could call me in future.

We regrouped at Petronas Balik Pulau at 10.30am, a two and the half hours after I met my friends at Esplanade and started our ride at 8.00am. We also stopped at Teluk Bahang coffee shop to regroup and at Titi Kerawang to help a KOTRT Kayuh Lasak ride participant to have his MTB tire's innertube replaced before we reached the gas station. The ride leader of the group that I was supposed to ride with decided to turn back at Titi Kerawang since he had to return to Esplanade by noon to fetch his loved one. We began our return leg after I had my bottle refilled.

We stopped at Teluk Bahang coffeeshop for a cuppa an hour after we started our journey back from Balik Pulau. I was hoping to have my favorite Lo Mee there. But alas, it was already close! Seen here are Jimmy (Right), Adren Ning(Center), the rider I met at B'worth ferry terminal and Chris Ng(Left). I met Chris before. I saw him riding his Diamondback steel bike(I am a sucker to nice steel racing bike!) once. We talked about the ride and also about the coming Malakoff Interstate. I have not registered for that ride yet. They hope I would join the peloton. Lets see how lah. We later also met Boy, another rider who was with another group for Pesta Race training. I also learned that Adren is working in Singapore and he is back for his home leave. All of us exchanged our contacts so that in future we could keep in touch.

We reached the ferry terminal an hour after. We decided to wait with Boy for his group to come over since he would ride with them back to BM. We splitted with Chris and Jimmy at the Gurney Drive junction. We continued to talk about spokes and nipples and our bikes. Oh yeah, I came to know that Adren and I were from the same home town - New Ferry Road! Boy's friend came over about half an hour later. But the rest were still on their way. Me and Adren decided to leave first since my LH already making noice <sigh>!
I finally reached home at Prai Garden at around 1.30pm. 5 and the half hours after I started my ride this morning! But well worth the time because I got to meet new friends. We promise to meet to again when Adren return from Singapore for his home leave.
