Hi all,
I thought 17-Oct-2010 should be full force on campaign for a lane round island ride right?
Why still has this "SGA MTB ride" site event from G-club on 17-Oct-10?
Just my 2 cents input.
Regards,
Edwin Tan
Edwin,
The upcoming events section show most of the cycling events available locally/outstation and they are "NOT NECESSARILY" organize by GClub. However, sometimes GClub members do participate in those events either on their own or pre-notified among small circle of friends/buddies.
Always contact the ride master before the ride incase it is cancelled.
This ride is organized by SGA and the ride schedule was created before CFAL date was decided. Some may prefer to go off road instead of doing the round island ride. It is not neccessary organized by G Club.
You are welcome to join them. But as what chicken mentioned, call the ride master to see if the ride were still on.

Hi Chicken & Turbosnail,
Just wonder why CFAL RIR is not log in G-club upcoming events?
I have no answer to my non-Gclub friends.
Thanks,
Edwin Tan
Sptan007, you're right, event is not registered !
I believe it is an oversight by us.
Initially when the date was fixed at 24 Oct an entry was made in the Upcoming Event, but later when the committee decided on 17 Oct, the old date was removed but somehow no new one was added.
I have added the event, Cheers and thanks again for bring it up !
Hi dshee,
Thanks a lot! You all did a good jobs for this CFAL RIR grand event!

Edwin

G-Club CFAL RIR ---> 2488!!
Enjoys,
Edwin
the organizers of the 2 events are doing a very discerning job to the cycling community. It would be unjust to make a comparison between the 2. I support both events and signed up as soon as they were open. "341" is a good start for their maiden event and I wish Kwong Wah all the best.
SK
Just checked and saw we have G Club riders entered for the Kwong Wah 100 Kms RIR. That's great!
Yes, agreed SK. If 2000 cyclists can enter our G Club organized CFAL RIR, why not the Kwong Wah event too? Is it bcos they don't provide a "classy" jersey or a nice sumptuous Bento lunch pack? The route is the same, and they have even opted for the magical "100 kms" target by including the Youth Park-Tg Tokong loop and the additional Pondok Upeh loop (7 kms) in Balik Pulau. This shows that the organizers really sat down to plan for the event. Am not sure about the support provided (Police, Rela, St John Ambulance, etc), but why don't more G Club menbers (I believe we have more than a thousand!) who are able to complete a RIR, enter to show our support?
Hi eskay yeoh, baby husky and all,
I just can't understand why KWYP RIR has so less cyclists relative to G-club.
Below are the advantages of KWYP RIR comparing to CFAL RIR.
1. 100 Years event
2. Medal
3. Certificate
4. Free gift
5. Lucky draw
Just my 2 cents observation.
Edwin
Fyi. I joined both RIRs
1) point of registration - CFAL has a portal for us to register online with multiple payment method allowed while the KWYP requires us to bank into OCBC and there's only 2 OCBC bank in Penang island and they are not parking friendly 2) I believe majority of the rider are banana like me. It took me a while before I found English and Bahasa Malaysia version that explain on the event...
For a very simple reason, cyclists are serious about getting a bicycle lane not just riding round the island which they can do with or without a certificate, medal, etc, etc.....
Dr and the committee members, CIMB, Rotary, Howei and other sponsors all play a key role in making stage 1 of CFAL such a great success! People like yourself, other GClub members and friends of GClub also contribute to this success. We hope come 17 Oct, all of us, including riders, will chip in whatever ways we can to make this ride a memorable and successful one! A successful CFAL is a success for all cyclists !!
We really felt sorry for Kwong Wah, it's due to their lack of experience that they are in this predicament. We need to help them as we are all fighting for a common cause and that is to get more people to cycle !!
BTW I have listed your site in our Links. Please reciprocate. Thanks in advance Sptan007 !
ps: I believe there should be no restrictions for you as member to post your photos up in our gallery or blog or forum. If you face any problem, pls let me know.
