Excursion: Lazy Rider (Balik Pulau Tour Guide) will lead us to a mild offroad trail along the coastal line to catch the breath taking scenary before heading to the Famous "Home made Kopi & Kuih Kar pek"...hihi
Mid Sweeper: Nightrider (ride during the night time, got the eyes of hawk)
Final Sweeper: Stingray & Aubun (both love to chit chat)

Description: Normally on every saturday morning, I will ride solo for round island ride. If you want to join me you are welcome but please take some light breakfast before the ride. The will be only one stop at Balik Pulau for drinks and breakfast.
Route: Island Plaza - Teluk Bahang - Balik Pulau (may be some mild offroad) - Teluk Kumbar - Sungai Ara - Green lane - Island Plaza

Ride duration: 3.5 Hours to 6 Hours.
Distance: more than 72 km
Average Speed: 20km/h
NO HELMET NO RIDE

Hi Ray, Lazyrider,
Tomorrow we will join yr round island ride, Ah Loon and the triathlon gang and myself will start off from youth park car park at 7 am and hope to catch up with your guys. Let us know if there is any place you want to rendezous wtih us.. Breakfast somewhere ? balik pulau. at 9 am??

Wow! These triathlon guys must be pretty fast. Anyway I don't think most Chinese coffee shops will be opened, tomorrow being CNY eve, so we have to rule out good Hokkien mee and thick kopi-o. If according to Ray we're riding slow, you'll be able to catch up with us somewhere along the way. We will also probably detour to Gertak Sanggul to catch Captain and his merry men coming down from their off road ride. Then some of them will accompany us back to Island Plaza.

It is always amazing to see that 3-4 days before coming Saturday, every rider
in G-club become so busy and excited to book the weekend ride.
Besides , I am happy to realize that I have no problem to go riding at any time,
because my home minister is always happy whenever I am going out from
home. Maybe it is because I am a Japanese husband ??

Hi Susumu San. This Saturday's RIR will clash with Gertak Sanggul ride. I will be joining Ronnie's group for the offroad for the first time. I saw the pictures of the trail and was impressed and willing to take the challenge. I will join the RIR with Susumu San and the rest of the guys after CNY. I am motivated to go to Balik Pulau again because of the Hokkien Mee. Just yesterday night at 10:30pm, I had a fantastic bowl of Hokkien Mee at Presgrave Street Ghaut. This stall sells the noodles for supper and I am sure if Susumu San were to have it, you will finish everything like me. I dried up the bowl. Simply wonderful and fantastic! I went home very satisfied.
I have intention to change my bike to a hardtail so that I can keep up with the rest of you during uphills. I still have to train, nevertheless, to match your endurance. Susumu San is a great rider uphill and if you do not mind, I will make you my benchmark for hill climbs. Wow! 10 rounds of Pearl Hill? That's no joke. I could only go up halfway coz my rear susp was soft and I had to get down to push. Decided to go back.

I think my friend MTB kaki will organize the cameron highland trip twice in a year. If I'm not mistaken this coming cameron highland trip will be in the 3rd week of April. I just spoke with them, this is a leisure ride and we hope that more rider will join. Once I got all the info in hand, I will put in the upcoming event section.

Don't know how are you guys going to do the ride(Tea Estate ride or the Jim Thomson loop aka Pos Mensun ride). CH is famous for road and off road ride enthusiats. Hey Stingray, now you've got me guessing how to kill two birds with one stone.
This afternoon I had already e-mailed Captain that I will try to meet him at the small roundabout at the end of Gertak Sanggul before they start off on their trail ride. Am still trying to figure out how to reach there before 7.30 am. But I told him I'm not going on the trail ride as I prefer on road riding so I will head back to Balik Pulau via Teluk Kumbar.
Now you have posted your round island ride on the same morning. Now I'm wondering how to time myself to meet you and where. But first I need you to confirm whether you are coming via Teluk Bahang or Teluk Kumbar way. I think I will prefer to ride on road all the way as my wife will probably come along. Any direction is okay with me as I'll probably cycle on until I bump into you. Haha!
Saying that, I don't think any coffee shops or hokkien mee stalls will open during this auspicious day. So it has to be a stopover at my house for koay ka pek. Hahaha!

Hahaha... Aiyo, the gertak sanggul offroad trail is not meant for Beginners. Last week, there is a father and son planning to go reverse blue house offroad. Frankly speaking, we did not warned them that the reverse blue house offroad is for intermediate MTB kaki. The son fainted at the trail and we felt so sorry to them because it's our fault not telling them in advance that the trail is not meant for Begineers. Luckily, nothing severe happen to his son...
I will do the anti-clockwise this time (through teluk bahang). I think I will reach teluk bahang about 7:15am and will reach titi kerawang about 8:00am...I think I will stop at your house for a cup of water...hahaha

This time I will be at the Titi Kerawang stall or Tropical Fruit farm waiting for you and Susumu-san. Haha! If not, I will give you one BIG ang pow. Heehee! My wife will probably come along so I cannot slouch. But she may want to continue on to Teluk Bahang. I will try to sweet talk her to turn back with us. That means I must go and buy her another cycling jersey. Bright red one for Chinese New Year. Haha!

Better I take Stingray's advice as he knows I am no off road rider and mountain climber. So have to give your Gertak Sanggul ride a miss. But if we are early and fast I may ride down Teluk Kumbar with Ray and Susumu-san and up to Gertak Sanggul to meet you and the guys when you come down. Should be around 10.30 am, right? Then phone Doc to ask him to recommend you a good surgeon to patch up your face. Hahaha!
Easy to get your wife to ride with you. Buy her a bicycle on your next wedding anniversary. Saying that, it was my wife who bought me MY bicycle. Hahaha!

Dunno gclub got any undertaker members not:). Anyway, morning of cny eve got prayers to ancestors ma. So cannot join you all la. As for the bike for the wife, got already but under utilized. Glove and helmet also now like trophies in my house nia. How bro... Come join us for the night ride la. I bet it'll be a good experience.
