Why no other places....
Hi all , i'm wondering why G club didn't organise any other cycling places but only Sungai ara , it's a bit too far for me begineer to cycle to the place
. G club should organise some rides to AIR ITAM DAM , 84 , and Penang hill . So i hope G club would organise it at the future .

? Call me at zeRO-1-TwO-488-tWO-7-ZEro-tWo.
Dear jwbiker
I will be going with stingray up the Dam. I will be waiting for his call and will ride together there. We may not be there at the kopitiam by 8am but we are sure to go up the Dam. Like stingray said if you are lucky, you will meet us in our black and white Scotts. Both of us have the same bike. Get in touch with stingray or myself (012-5088284) to arrange time to meet at kopitiam, f you want to ride up together.
Peter
Posh66 and stingray met at the Green Lane caltex about 7:45am. I've checked my back wheel air pressure, it seem that it's not enough air. While awaiting for posh66, I use the petrol kiosk to add more air, it ended up my back wheel air got even worst, all the air came out. So, I'm go inside the petrol kiosk counter and ask them what happened to the air pump. It seems that the both air pump is not working, so all the air in my back wheel gone. Fortunately, they told me that they have a special emergency "RED" button in the air pump, so i try it and it's works. If not the special button, I will be pushing my bike back home...hahaha
While cycled to the Air Itam Market, we feel that we are the king of the road. Not many cars on the road. Reaching the kopitiam at the bottom of the kek lok si, we could not find jwbikers, we thought that we kena fly kite...hahah... but we met another group of cyclist (about 8 ppl) from Butterworth. They call themselves "Ghost Riders" because we saw some Ghost Buster sticker on their bike...hahaha. So we decided to join them to Ngor Hean.
While climbing up the hill, I saw one merida TFS 500, so I just try my luck to ask him whether is he the jwbikers who posted in this forum. I strike a lottery...hihi.. As we reaching to the top of Air Itam Dam, we saw Chia coming down very fast. We shout at him, why so fast coming down already. He told us that after hillturn, he is going to 1200 step... wow .. so strong kaki....
When reached to the top of Air Itam Dam, we saw another familliar face coming up so fast from behind... using scott spark..."It's our MATTHEW'....haha.. He told us that if he's not cycling today, his wife will divorce him because he's neglected his beautiful wife (His wife just took a Bath and SPA) for the last 2 weeks...He's beautiful wife is clean and shine with some purfume...hahahaha
After a short chit-chat at the top of air Itam hill, we decided to goto Ngor Hean. Almost reached the Ngor Hean, Posh66 feel that the trail is too short for him, he continue going down the hill from Ngor Hean. The Gost riders club shout at him and I quickly get my bike and chase him. Luckily, he heard the shout and decided to turn back and headed up to Ngor Hean.
After the Ngor Heam Temple, the ghost riders group decided to head back home. But our Matthew feel that the trail is not Kick enough... so Posh66, matthew and myself decided going back to hillturn and continue our journery to Balik Pulau. The downhill trail to Balik Pulau is fun. We headed to our famous "LASKA" & NUTMEG Juice at Balik Pulau. After finished our lunch, it is about 11:45am. So we decided using the balik pulau to Hillturn trail because it's more cosy...hahahaha.. To my suprise, Posh66 and Matther got so much enegry. We decided that we will try our best to cycle up instead of pushing our bikes... Guest what... "WE DID IT" but we have a couple of stops. Our morning ride finished about 1:30pm....hahaha...
Thanks for the ride to Mattew, Posh66, Jwbikers & Ghost Riders Team from Butterworth.
Hope to see you all, Ray
Dear Jwbiker,
May I know roughly what time do you intend to cycle up to the air itam dam?
Note: please use the normal font size...
Many Thanks, Ray
8am . Meet at the kopitiam below there .
Dear jwbiker,
I could not confirm that I will be there by 8:00am. But if you see someone wear a G-club jersey and using black & white scott bike up to hillturn and down to balik pulau, I think that fellow will be me.
Cheers, Ray
Finallly bought a new bike . Before that budget is below Rm2000 ... Bought a bike Rm3400 .... Been poisoned ..... MERIDA TFS 500D from Lim BIcycle . Lim mouth all poison , me kena teruk....
For those who wants to know what this model is, here it goes: Merida Trans-Mission TFS 500-D
Hello jwbiker,
Hey, Lim Bicycle folks are a great bunch. I didn't buy my bike from them but I've visited their shop a few times and they are always nice without forcing you to buy anything. And they always try to give the best advice they can. We listen and try to make up our own mind before buying.
Cheers and happy cycling with stingray tomorrow.
Helllo Baby husky ,
What's your mtb ? I think you should get a bike from Lim bicycle shop . Their things were price average and wouldn't be expensive , not like chin aik , less discount , bad service ( by their tauke ) . You wanna join to cycle tommorow ?
Hello jwbiker, I already have a mtb. It's a BH Expert, a Spanish brand. She's my own little baby.
No, I am an old man and cannot do hill climbs. The other day my family drove up to the Air Itam dam. It's quite steep uphill. No way can I do a non-stop climb.
You enjoy yourself but always cycle safely.
Cheers!
Wait till my wrist is ok. I'll take you to the most breath taking trail in Penang....
OH that's great ! I will be buying a new bike this coming Wednesday , so after that can cycle with you all . Is Exitway a good brand ? Buying a New EXITWAY XC race from CCI .
hi mate,
glad to know u getting a new bike soon. exitway distributor in malaysia is Guan Chow in Ipoh. a 2 shoplots size bicycle shop. i heard they can bring in campagnolo super record 11 too.
if you want to know more about your bike, checkout this site.
exitwaybike.blogspot.com
which model u getting? dallas, norfolk or full susser model rx-8.
Exitway is a 'OEM brand' Meaning some local shops here orders from a bicycle manufacturer (likely from China) and rebrand their own. Why don't you try Giant or Merida ?
Oh i see , i'm trying merida . I hope to get a merida which is below Rm2500 with 9*3speed and cable actuated disc brake , which the bike can last long period . But the CCI salesman kamarul told me exitway xc race can 'tahan lama ' . 1 thing i don't like exitway is the frame , not beautiful . So now i am so confusing .
honestly, getting a merida mtb 3x9 speed with that budget is a bit tough. anyway, can checkout lim bicycle, appointed agent in penang. KSH is the distributor.
do some research on specs and pricing. buy what you want, not what the salesman tell you. every bike shop will try to push the brand they sell.
30 pound XC Race bike? Wow, that's kinda heavy for a race ready MTB(if the model name implies it is a race ready machine)! Nuvo side stand for an XC Racer??
I can see the frame is being beefed up by having additional gussets welded to the frame. It should do the job just fine.
Dicth the following items if you buy this bike. You don't need them on the trail(if you want to use your MTB for its intended purpose, off road riding):
1. Nuvo side stand
2. The reflectors.
Btw, why obsess about disc brakes? With your budget I would advice to get one with normal rim brakes. It not only makes your bike lighter by 1~2 lbs and also has better braking power compares to the comparable disc brakes you are getting for the same price point. Just my two sens.
Hi, I'm not sure but I do recall reading that Exitway is made in Malaysia, in a factory in Ipoh. It seems this local company has been a distributor for imported bicycles, among them KONA, and has gained the technology to manufacture their own bikes in-house. I may be mistaken but if it is OEM, then it should be a foreign brand but made in Malaysia.
