Guys, sorry for that fact that i cycle very slow.
Hello Slow Rider, you cycled so slow you didn't appear at all. Haha! Welcome to the club. Nevermind, see you next time.
By the way, yeah I remembered from your pic in the G Club members list. You were aiming an arrow. You're an archer, aren't you. So you should be a very fit sportsman.
Maybe i should change my call sign from seng chiang to slow rider,Yes,it is true i am an archer, problem is archer got tons of fully function yet strong muscle on the upperbody but have little useful muscle on the lowerbody,so i tried to join you all,one more thing i need to tell myself, remember to get your hydration bag and fill your tyres with full air not 60kpa only.
By the way,i will keep on practice so that i can keep up to you guys.
cheers
seng chiang
HI seng chiang , i think you need to change a new bike because your bike is too worse , chain rust , cassette rust..... You cycle slow because your bike ....
This bike is the bike i buy 5 years ago,so,everything already old.i am still considering about changing everything instead of buying a new one,is it possible? I mean in a way that cut all the cost and below my budget.Cause supporting 2 sports at once by myself without other finance and funding from parents is terrible.I just let you guys know something,I am a state archer, need money to change equipment as you know sukma is very near. So,it is either this or that only.By the way, thanks for that info.
cheers
seng chiang
Old? Gosh you have to see my 1997 VooDoo Erzulie!
The 28lb Erzulie still run with its original Shimano Alivio parts and single wall WTB rims. I have ridden this rigid MTB to numerous trails, including an epic PCC Presidential Ride 2005, which ironically I clocked the best time with this very basic setup MTB. My friend likes to call it a Bangla bike since it looks very basic(in fact it is).
These pictures were taken when a friend of mine from KL came for a visit and we decided to do a short ride at 1200 steps.
Posh 66,
You are most welcome. Cycling is a Team effort. Lance Armstrong managed to win 7 Tour de France because he had the support of his team-mate. He just can't do it all by himself. Most important is everybody "Hua Hee Tho Hoe"...haha....!
As for my gf, this is a public forum mah, so can't say it so obvious loh, you know I know enough lah!!!
I am back but,I will join you guys if i know your route thet you guys take from Green lane to sungai ara,is it the Bkt Gambir hill climb route? If yes,I hope to meet you guys at the pedestrian bridge near the SMK school.I will follow you guys from there until the foot of bukit genting, then i cycle back to my home in SG DUA.Is it ok??
cheers
seng chiang
Hello Seng Chiang, carry on lah. It's all downhill after Bukit Genting. You will enjoy the ride in Balik Pulau. When the rest of the team continue on to Teluk Bahang I will accompany you back to Bukit Genting. Deal?
Baby Husky
BABY husky,
if deal later you will see i push the bike all way up again. If like that then you must cycle up and downhill again to catch up with them.
cheers
seng chiang
Hi Seng Chiang,
It's no shame if we have to get down and push. I do that a lot. On the Teluk Bahang stretch, on the Teluk Kumbar stretch. I even had to get down and walk when I did my first ride - the Merdeka Ride for Green last Aug, at Bukit Gambier. And gues what? When I got down, some riders behind followed me and did the same thing.
If we can, we try. If not, we stop. We're not into cycling to kill ourselves but to get ourselves fitter. And it is a good enjoyable exercise with so much freedom and no restrictions.
So I'll meet you guys at the foot of Bukit Genting. After that it's all downhill to Balik Pulau and then we will go off road across the country side along river banks and through padi fields in cool morning breeze. Then we will reach Pantai Acheh for breakfast of good Hokkien mee and great kopi-o. Then Ray and the rest will cycle home via Teluk Bahang and I will accompany you back to Teluk Kumbar as I stay at that end of Balik Pulau. I will ride with you until the foot of Bukit Genting. If you want to get down and push, I will get down and push with you. After that it's downhill for both you (to Gertak Sanggul and Bayan Lepas) and me (back home) so it's NO PROBLEM.
Cheers and I do hope you will consider joining us to Balik Pulau.
Tony
Dear Seng Chiang,
There will be another meeting point at the Vistana Hotel. I think there are a couple of cyclist waiting there. I think we should reach there about 7:30am. For those who are interested, please sign up, sms or reply in this forum.
Note: We wait until 7:20am if only we know someone would like to join us or else we just cycle through.
Hope to see you all, Ray
It's been more than 2 weeks I have not touched my "Girlfriend". I think it's time to give back some attention to her. Otherwise, she will ask for "Li Hoon" very soon. So guys, I shall ride on her again to see you guys this coming Saturday!
Cheers!!!
Hey matthew , please give me your phone number . Just now forgot to get from you.
Hai jwbiker,
My mobile no. is 019-4707192. Call me anytime.
Hey Matt. Thanks for waiting up for me this morning on our return trip from Balik Pulau to Hillturn. I was really struggling but managed to complete. I had great satisfaction in completing it. Aiyah, must be sensor a little la about your gf. Cannot tell everybody that you ride on her this Saturday or else everybody will come over and have free show... wakakaka..! Just joking. I understand what you are trying to say. Yep, see you this Saturday morning for the RIR!
Hey Pete boy, pretty soon you're gonna be King of the Hill with your speed and practise. C'mon, pass this old man some tips. Do you have a small electric motor hidden somewhere?
Hahaha!
Baby Husky
Hi William, welcome back!
I'm changing my G Club web name to Baby Husky after my BH bike initials and also my pet doggie. Using the name Lazy Rider is making me just that - lazy. Hahaha!
Let's hope I can now ride as fast as a Siberian Husky can run through the snow. But being a beginner, I will start off as Baby Husky.
Hahaha! See you on Saturday.
Tony
Yo Tony, my man! It's a good idea to change your name to BH aka Baby Husky. A Siberian Husky is a powerful dog. Its good that you shed the old call sign of yours as it tends to make you lazy... wakakaka....!!! You know the Law of Attraction lorr. Makes you think negative ma. But on the more positive note, Baby Husky is ok except for the Baby. Sounds a little manja but that's alright. It makes you your woman's man! M sure your wifey will call you Baby from now on. I was haveing some cheeky thoughts... if you were to tie your Husky on your BH and let him pull you up the hill, I think he will enjoy the exercise but that'll be too hot for him. Early morning will be fine. Will sure love to see your Husky one day, can I?
Haha! Don't you think I have thought of that? Two rounds around the block and my husky is rushing home for cold water and aircon.
Two climbs up a hill road and I'm looking for a long cool beer and aircon. Heehee!
Like doggie like owner.
Baby Husky
Hi Ray,
Where do I sign up for the Round Island night ride? Not posted up yet? It'll be interesting.
Dear Posh66,
You can signup the round island night ridde on the following link..
http://www.pbb.com.my/node/774
Hope to see you all, Ray
Haha! Here we go again. After my disappearing act yesterday at the Teluk Kumbar hill climb, I am training this whole week (incl this morning) to make sure I meet you guys at the foot of the Bkt Genting Restaurant.
See you guys!
Dear Lazy Rider,
I'm sure you can do it. I think the heat from the sun de-motivate you. If it's in early morning, you sure got the energy to climb up the hill. This is why I prefer cycle in the morning. Is it possible for you to guide us a little bit offroad in balik pulau. I think it would be great that we set maximum offroad trail is about 30km. So that we can reach home before noon.
Dear Posh66,
I think this time with your Hardtail, you sure got the energy to chit-chit during the climb. Susumu and myself are looking forward to see you...
Hope to see you all soon, Ray
Yes, partly the hot sun. I sometimes wonder how you guys can continue cycling on home while I make it to my house within 20~30 minutes after leaving you guys. Even when I cycled to Batu Ferringhi last time, I would be back home before 11 am.
No problem going off road when you all come up to Balik Pulau but maximum distance from point to point (Pulau Betong to Sungai Pinang) is maybe 15 kms one way only.
The secret lies in filling up your body with fluids. I drink lots of water from my back pack during the ride. Our muscles need lots of fluids to ensure it can perform at its optimum. Fluids in muscles prevent them from getting cramps. Its a good investment to buy the back pack and I have not suffered any dehydration when I got home at 12pm. I filled up 2.5L when I joined the Gertak Sanggul ride on Saturday. It was just enough when I reached home. Along the way we had one last stop at Sg Ara where we took 100plus to replace our body salts. So, it was no surprise that I could reach home at 12pm. That's the thrill of riding 6hours!
Pete
Hi Ray
Perhaps this year we could train together and join Kayuh Lasak. I heard the terrain is very tough. Many ppl have suffered cramps along the way but some have made it with enough training. We will also call Tony, Susumu San, Daniel, Matthew and others to join in. What say you?
Tony, Susumu San, Daniel, Matthew: Hope we can all train together for the year end's Kayuh Lasak. I think it will be fun. Just for the sake of experiencing the trail and terrain.
Posh66,
It's a good suggestion. The race is still months away. If we train together, we can motivate each other. By then, I think we have no problem at least completing the race. Afterall, the most important thing is to enjoy the race.
Dear Posh66,
I have checket out the details of Kayuh Lasak on website, but i am still not sure
if I can. Let's see by the end of this year if I am qualified enough to attend this
trail. The point is Penang Hill, it said they go to Penang hill from Air itam dam.
If this is trail is not so steep than going up from Botanical garden, then I may
be able to challenge. Susumu
HI susumu san , konichiwa . I heard stingray said that you stay at SRI YORK , i'm staying opposite only , scotland park . Where you usually cycle ? we can cycle together .
Hi Jack
My mobile number is 012-5088284. If you want me to share with you about how to form a cycling club, feel free to call me for an appointment and I can suggest some thing to you. So, can I have your mobile number, please? This evening I will be riding to Tk Bahang if weather permits. I will leave Caltex station at Greenlane at 5pm sharp, if you want to join me.
Regards
Peter
Hi jwbiker,
Thank you for your message.
I normally ride on Saturday to join " the round island ride " with Ray as my regular
ride for training purpose, so if you have a time, you can joiin us on Saturday.
I have been to Air Itam dam couple times, but i prefer to go to the above ride
with several kind of view , up hill and down hill. Susumu
Hello Peter,
No way for me. Please count me out though I'm game to train with you guys cycling uphill on tar roads. Haha!
I don't want to kayuh sampai mati. Haha! I will only kayuh tahan mati.

Dear Posh66,
This year, I will definately going to join the kayu lasak....hahaha
Cheers, Ray
I believe you and I have some thing in common, dislike hill climbs. But, come to think of it, we both also do share the same ideaology - to train for the hill climb. Ever since you asked me to get a hardtail to end my suffering from a full suspension bike, I finally made up my mind and stick to a hardtail and will train for hill climbs. Need to strengthen the quadriceps muscles and improve its endurance. I found that going up Gertak Sanggul not as bad I would have thought. If I were to use my T-Bolt, I think I've had it. I would have taken Rapid home.
See you again, Tony
Hello Pete, you are still so young. Me? I am already almost over the hill. How to climb hills with you some more. Now don't you dare go and compare me with Susumu-san, who is such a patient cyclist. Haha!
Also you went so fast last Saturday on your new bike. You have already beaten the barrier. I can only do one hill climb per day, not two. Only if I have to make my way back home. Hahaha!
Dear Lazy Rider,
Since you have been a badminton player for a long time, you already have a good muscle.
Only with your brush up of it a bit, it will soon get recovered. Keep on going to enjoy riding !
I will keep on going for swimming as well, because this is my daily enjoyment and happy hours.
See you soon, Susumu
Hello Susumu-san,
I played badminton only socially with a group of friends of the same standard. We never entered any tournaments so we never really trained at all. So my muscles are not strong.
So now I've gone from social badminton player to social biker. I only ride with friends who come visit me in Balik Pulau on weekend mornings and take them for hokkien mee and kopi-o. Hahaha!
But I do enjoy my cycling. Only hate those hill climbs. Hope to improve this aspect by riding along with you.
See you this Saturday.
Tony
