Peng from Laksamana cycling club, Prai is organising a 2 days 1 night cycling trip to Betong, Thailand

Starting: Gather at Prai Kulim Highway 1st toll gate 7.00 am
Preparations:
1) Personal effects for 1 night stay in Betong
2) Bicycle lights front and back
3) Helmet
4) Suncream
5) Malaysian Ringgit (no need Thai Bath)
6) Passport
7) Spare tubes, pump, repair kit (1 or 2 cyclists to carry)
8) Water/Saline drinks
9) Accomodation
Will stay at River Inn Resort 111-113 soi 12 Prachatipat Rd, Betong tel 006673-234175 (yet to confirm booking)
RM 60 per night with attached bath room, TV and internet
10) Activities and attractions
Will join local Betong cycling group in their evening ride. Need to contact Ah Seng tel 0872394779
Cycle to Hot water spring and Piyamit Tunnel
Cheap beer, good food, massages and great night life !
11) Start off at Kulim Highway first toll gate at 0700. At least 2-3 stops before stopping at Baling town for makan. After the gruelling climb, a good rest and coffee at Keroh before crossing the border to Betong.
12) About 200km to and fro. Certain sections are hazardous, hot and boring. Quite steep climb after Baling town.
13) Immigration guide
About 4-5 km from Keroh town you would reach the Malaysian checkpoint. At the Thai checkpoint, pay the Thai ladies 2rm to fill up your form and queue up for your passport to be stamped. From there it's another 4-5 km to Betong town.
14) Quick guide to Betong town.
Ride straight following the main trunk road to Betong town. You will come to this clock tower, it's in the middle of town. And use this as your reference to move around town, a good landmark.
